Ah, of course we also need to fix the connecting side...
which the attached patch should do. Sorry about that.

(I found a site called shellmix.com that provides shells on
a FreeBSD system, but it's configue to prevent all
outgoing connections, i.e. calls to connect() always fail.
So the patch is untested as of now).
